Exciting things are happening in Whiteclay, NE! The Small Business Administration and USDA, through their Native American Programs, are helping GROW Nebraska bring a new level of entrepreneurship to Whiteclay and the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. The amazing artists and crafters at Pine Ridge are marketing in new ways and in new venues thanks to the efforts of GROW Nebraska and partners Lakota Hope Ministry and UNL Extension Services! One of the exciting new services GROW Nebraska and @Lakota Hope Ministry is offering is the new EXCHANGE store.
Here's an inside look at the 'Exchange Room' in Whiteclay. This store provides artists with supplies and materials they need to create their art. Before the EXCHANGE store was created, artists and crafters had to drive many miles to purchase raw materials at retail prices. Those expenses made it more difficult to make even a small profit. Now, these inspired entrepreneurs have a supply store nearby and, by attending meetings each month, the artists are able to earn points that they can use toward supplies. GROW Nebraska and Lakota Hope Ministry are working hard to make a difference in people’s lives…would you help? The supply store needs to be replenished often…If you would like to help support these artists as they make beautiful works of art that honor their culture, shop online at www.GrowNebraskaNative.org!
